The KARVE guide
What is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is a low-impact, full-body workout performed on a spring-resistance machine — the reformer. This guide explains how it works, what it does for your body, and how KARVE’s Transformer method builds on those foundations with low impact, high intensity training at our Alserkal Avenue studio.
How reformer Pilates works
The reformer uses springs, straps and a sliding carriage to add controlled resistance to every movement. Because the load is scalable, each exercise can be made gentler or harder without changing the movement itself — which is why the method suits beginners and athletes alike.
A typical class moves through lower-body, core and upper-body sequences, training strength, stability and mobility together while staying gentle on the joints.
Benefits of reformer Pilates
Regular practice strengthens and tones muscles, improves core stability and posture, boosts endurance and metabolism, and increases flexibility and mobility — all with minimal impact on the joints.
Because the resistance is controlled and scalable, you work at your own level of difficulty while still getting a deep, effective full-body session.
From reformer to Transformer: the KARVE method
KARVE takes the reformer foundation further with Transformer Pilates: a signature 50-minute class that layers strength training, music and mindful movement over the classical fundamentals, finishing with breathwork to reset.
It keeps everything people love about resistance-based Pilates — low impact, scalable, deeply effective — and raises the intensity into a complete, energising workout.
